The UTSC Weather Station is operated by the Department of Physical and Environmental Sciences. Weather variables are measured and/or calculated at a 60-second interval. FILES ------------- 'Hourly' files contain 60-minute totals, samples, or averages for the following variables, recorded or calculated at the end of each hour: AirTC_AVG Average air temperature, degrees Celsius RH Sample relative humidity, % DewP_AVG Average dew point temperature, degrees Celsius BP_kPa_AVG Average barometric pressure, kilopascals Rain_mm_TOT Total rainfall, millimetres WS_kph_AVG Average wind speed, kilometres per hour WindDir Sample wind direction, degrees SlrW_AVG Average solar radiation, Watts per square metre SlrkJ_2 Total solar flux, kilojoules per square metre Hdex_C_AVG Average humidex temperature, degrees Celsius WC_C_AVG Average windchill temperature, degrees Celsius 'Daily' files contain 24-hour totals, samples, or averages for the following variables, recorded or calculated at the end of each day: AirTC_AVG Average air temperature, degrees Celsius AirTC_MAX Maximum air temperature, degrees Celsius AirTC_Time_MAX Time of maximum air temperature record AirTC_MIN Minimum air temperature, degrees Celsius AirTC_Time_MIN Time of minimum air temperature record Rain_mm_TOT Total rainfall, millimetres WS_kph_MAX Maximum wind speed, kilometres per hour WS_kph_Time_MAX Time of maximum wind speed record WS_kph_S_WVT Mean horizonal wind speed, kilometres per hour WindDir_D1_WVT Unit vector mean wind direction, degrees SlrkJ_2 Total solar flux, kilojoules per square metre VIEWING FILES ------------- Data are output as ASCII Short Header Tables (TOACl1), comma-delimited .DAT files. They are best viewed in a spreadsheet application, such as Microsoft Excel, and opened using the following steps: 1. Download .DAT weather data 2. Open spreadsheet application 3. In application, select 'open file', navigate to .DAT file and click 'open' 4. When prompted, choose 'delimited' 5. Select 'comma delimited' ------------ Updated 10/09/13 ------------ Direct questions or concerns to: Tom Meulendyk DPES technician tmeulendyk@utsc.utoronto.ca 416 287 7324
